How long would you wait for a really good hamburger?

It’s not just a burger. It’s a Furano Burger.

Made to order, this tower of local ingredients is far from the typical image you might have of a fast-food hamburger. Don’t worry, it usually just takes 5 minutes to serve a burger. But during the busy season, a long line and long waiting time is not uncommon at this joint! What is it about this burger that makes customers want to line up and wait for it, sometimes for hours?

This small burger shop is found in what seems like a random spot amongst the fields, where most cars passing by are either local farmers, lost tourists, or meat-loving hungry customers. Okay, most tourists know exactly where to go these days thanks to GPS, and this burger joint is a delightful discovery on the map!

At least 6 different locals contribute to the ingredients of the Furano Burger.

It’s all about the ingredients. The shop was originally created by “Furano Bokujo” translated to Furano Ranch by Furano Brothers & Co. They thought, “What would be the best way to get people to eat the great produce of local Furano farmers and Furano Bokujo pork products?” The best answer was of course, hamburgers! What’s in it??

The bun: Baked locally at Furano Bakery
The lettuce & tomato: produced by local Furano farmers*
The bacon: Made by Furano Bokujo with local pigs; no preservatives, aged long-term
The pickles: A great addition to the aroma and flavor
The onions: Furano-grown onions that are purposefully not spicy.*
The patty: Made with 100% local pork. A homemade recipe with the hamburger ingredients and the original umami flavor of pork in mind to make the perfect balance of taste.
(*due to harvest season, may substitute to other Hokkaido or domestic farmers)

It’s not just a burger. It’s a Furano Burger.

People won’t line up to eat just any hamburger. They want Furano Burger! It’s knowing that you’re eating real Furano ingredients, while you’re in Furano, looking out onto the very fields that made it. Even with the tower of veggies, the pork flavor stood out as a star in the great balance of taste. 100% pork makes the patty juicy, soft, and light; so it doesn’t feel heavy! Without any fancy additives, preservatives or preparation, these patties are made just like the good-old-days, hand-made!

What’s the longest someone waited for a burger?
Due to the coronavirus, the shop shifted to takeout only, with outdoor terrace chairs by the fields, and pre-orders for pickup by phone. But if the line at the shop is too long, even pre-orders are put on hold. The longest waiting time to date was 3 hours during Obon (mid-August summer break). Speaking of seasons, the shop is only open from spring to early autumn. Be sure to check their open schedule and menu on the website. Maybe even call 1-2 hours in advance to see how long that waiting time is before you takeout!
